Inlays & Onlays
Custom-milled restorations for teeth too worn for a filling but not yet needing a crown.
01
Overview
Inlays and onlays are the middle ground between a filling and a crown. They're custom-milled in the lab or in-office from porcelain or composite, then bonded into a prepared cavity — preserving more of your natural tooth than a crown would.
02
Who it's for
- A large cavity that's too big for a standard filling
- A tooth with a broken or worn cusp where a full crown would be overkill
- Patients who want a tooth-colored, durable restoration that preserves structure
03
How it works
Usually one or two visits:
- We remove decay and shape the cavity.
- The inlay or onlay is designed and milled to fit exactly.
- It's bonded in place and polished to blend with the tooth.
